Raise the Shield of Faith

Faith is not striving—it is trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Learn how to quench fear, doubt, condemnation,

and demonic attacks through biblical faith.

Armor of God Series

The devil does not always attack with obvious darkness. Often, he attacks through subtle lies—fear, doubt, accusation, and confusion. These are not random thoughts. These are fiery darts.

But God did not leave you defenseless. He gave you a weapon of protection so powerful that Scripture says it can quench every fiery dart of the wicked one.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
— Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV)

For further study, read Ephesians 6:16 (NKJV) and see What is the Shield of Faith?.

What Is the Shield of Faith?

The Shield of Faith is not positive thinking. It is not religious optimism. And it is not “trying harder.” The Shield of Faith is active trust in what God has said, even when your emotions and circumstances scream the opposite.

Faith is your spiritual defense system. It is how you respond to attacks, not by panic, but by confidence in Christ.

The Shield of Faith is your ability to hold up God’s truth in the face of spiritual pressure.

When the enemy throws fear, you raise the shield and say: “God has not given me a spirit of fear.”
When he throws condemnation, you raise the shield and say: “There is therefore now no condemnation.”

The Shield of Faith Bible Verse (Ephesians 6 Explained)

The Shield of Faith is found in Paul’s famous teaching on spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6. This is not symbolic poetry—it is spiritual reality.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
— Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV)

Notice what Scripture says: you are not called to fight for victory—you are called to stand in victory. Jesus already defeated Satan through the Cross.

Faith is what keeps you standing when the enemy tries to shake you. That is why Paul says “above all” take the shield.

What Are the “Fiery Darts of the Wicked”?

The fiery darts are spiritual attacks designed to ignite something inside you: fear, anger, lust, discouragement, confusion, paranoia, accusation, or hopelessness.

These darts often come as thoughts that feel like your own—but they are targeted arrows meant to weaken your faith.

Fiery Dart #1: Condemnation

“You failed again. God is disappointed. You’ll never change.” This is a direct assault on your identity in Christ.

Fiery Dart #2: Fear

“Something bad is coming. You’re not safe. God won’t protect you.” Fear is the enemy’s counterfeit faith.

Fiery Dart #3: Doubt

“Is God really with you? Is this deliverance real? Is the Bible true?” Doubt weakens your spiritual resistance.

Fiery Dart #4: Temptation

“Just do it. It won’t matter. You can repent later.” Temptation is the devil offering you chains disguised as relief.

Faith Is Not a Feeling (Grace vs Works Warfare)

Many believers lose battles because they believe faith is a feeling. But faith is not a feeling. Faith is agreement with God’s Word.

Works-based warfare says: “If I pray harder, fast longer, and do more religious effort, then God will protect me.” Grace-based warfare says: “Jesus already won. I stand in His victory.”

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
— Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

The Shield of Faith is raised when you hear truth and respond with trust. That is why you must feed on the Word daily.

How the Enemy Attacks Your Mind Through Unbelief

Satan rarely attacks by force first—he attacks by deception. If he can get you to believe a lie, he can gain access to your emotions and decisions.

Here are common unbelief-based attacks:

  • “God is far away.” (lies about relationship)
  • “You are cursed.” (lies about identity)
  • “Nothing will change.” (lies about hope)
  • “Deliverance isn’t real.” (lies about authority)
  • “You’re too broken.” (lies about grace)

The Shield of Faith blocks lies by forcing the believer to respond with truth. Faith is not denial—it is alignment.

How to Raise the Shield of Faith in Spiritual Warfare

Step 1: Identify the Dart

Ask yourself: “What lie is this thought trying to plant?” Every fiery dart carries a message.

Step 2: Answer With Scripture

Faith speaks. Silence is not spiritual strength. Answer the enemy with the Word of God.

Step 3: Declare Your Position in Christ

You don’t fight as a victim. You fight as a son. You are seated with Christ.

Step 4: Resist and Stand

Don’t chase the enemy. Don’t obsess over the attack. Stand in authority and refuse agreement with darkness.

A Practical Plumb Line for Thoughts: “Love Thinks No Evil”

One of the fastest ways to raise the Shield of Faith is to test a thought before you accept it. Scripture gives us a simple plumb line:

“[Love] thinks no evil.” — 1 Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV)

If a thought is trying to plant guilt, condemnation, hopelessness, accusation, suspicion, or “God is against you”— you can mark it immediately: that is not the voice of love.

Step 1 — Recognize (Don’t Own the Dart)

  • “This is a fiery dart, not my identity.”
  • “This thought is not producing love, peace, or truth.”
  • “I refuse agreement with condemnation.”

Step 2 — Rebuke the Source (In Jesus’ Name)

  • “I rebuke you, spirit of accusation—leave now.”
  • “Satan, you are a liar. I reject this thought.”
  • “I belong to Jesus Christ. You have no authority here.”

Step 3 — Replace With the Word (Jesus’ Model)

  • Jesus answered temptation with: “It is written…” (Matthew 4:1–11)
  • Speak Scripture out loud. Faith is active.
  • Hold the line until the pressure breaks.

Quick “Shield of Faith” Script

  • Recognize: “This is not from God.”
  • Rebuke: “I reject and rebuke this in Jesus’ name.”
  • Replace: “It is written…” (then quote the verse).

What Weakens the Shield of Faith?

1. Unconfessed sin – not because God stops loving you, but because sin opens doors and clouds clarity.

2. Fear-based religion – legalism trains believers to trust performance instead of Christ.

3. Isolation – when you stop hearing truth, lies become louder.

4. Feeding on darkness – demonic media, occult content, constant fear news, horror, witchcraft entertainment.

5. Forgetting the Cross – the devil wins when believers stop living from what Jesus finished.

Practical Declarations to Activate Faith Daily

  • I am righteous in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21).
  • I walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
  • No weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
  • I reject fear, because God has not given me a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7).
  • I overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony (Revelation 12:11).
  • I belong to Jesus Christ, and I will not be moved (Romans 8:38–39).

Deliverance Prayer: Put On the Shield of Faith

Father God, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. I thank You that Jesus is Lord, and that the Cross has already defeated Satan. I confess that Your Word is truth, and I submit myself fully to You.

Repentance: Lord, I repent for every place where I have partnered with fear, unbelief, anxiety, doubt, and double-mindedness. I repent for trusting my feelings more than Your promises. I repent for listening to lies, meditating on worst-case scenarios, and agreeing with the voice of the enemy.

Renouncing: In the name of Jesus Christ, I renounce every spirit of fear, torment, unbelief, anxiety, and accusation. I renounce every fiery dart sent against my mind. I renounce every lie that says I am abandoned, unsafe, cursed, or defeated. I renounce every open door through sin, trauma, witchcraft exposure, and spiritual oppression. I cancel every demonic assignment against my faith and destiny.

Commanding: In the name of Jesus Christ, I command every unclean spirit attacking my thoughts to leave me now. I command every spirit of heaviness, panic, doubt, confusion, and torment to come out and go where Jesus sends you. I break the power of every mental stronghold and every demonic voice speaking against my identity in Christ. I declare that Satan has no authority over my life, my home, my mind, or my body.

Activating Faith: I take up the Shield of Faith. I declare that I am protected by the blood of Jesus. I declare that God is my refuge and my fortress. I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I declare that I walk by faith and not by sight. I declare that Jesus Christ is my righteousness, my peace, and my victory.

Sealing: Father, I ask You to fill me with the Holy Spirit afresh. Seal this deliverance in the name of Jesus. I declare that my mind belongs to Christ, and I will stand firm in faith. I praise You Lord, and I thank You for freedom and protection.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
